Bro. Derrick was born and raised in Statesville, N.C. He graduated from Alexander Central High School in 1984. At the age of 20, he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. In 1990, the Lord called him into the ministry. He moved to Boone N.C. where he was given the opportunity to preach revivals and fill in for many pastors in the area. In Boone, he joined the Clarks Creek Baptist Church where he was licensed to preach. During this time, he was mentored and discipled by other veteran ministers. Bro. Derrick is currently serving as pastor of Cash Point Baptist Church in Ardmore TN. Bro. Derrick was called as Senior Pastor of Cash Point Baptist Church in October 2004. Bro. Derrick married his wife Elizabeth, in 1996. After seeking God's will for their life as a couple, they felt God calling them to Alabama Baptist Children's Home in Decatur Alabama. There they served as House Parents, for over six (6) years. During their time at the Alabama Baptist Children's Home, Bro. Derrick continued to exercise his gift of preaching through various churches in Alabama, and by participating in revivals. He also filled in at churches without a pastor. Bro. Derrick and Sister Elizabeth have been blessed with four children; Nathan, Nicholas, Ashlynn and David Michael. Bro. Derrick feels privileged to be a part of what God is doing at Cash Point. What a wonderful thing it is to love and be loved by God and His people!
